What’s new: AI agents, MCP, and WhatsApp coupons in time for the holiday season

Happy marketer with a blurred background

Every marketer would rather spend time creating great campaigns than getting caught up in repetitive admin tasks. From building segments and writing content to analyzing campaign results and managing data, there are a lot of tasks that compete for your attention.

We’ve been working on new ways to make those tasks easier, giving you more time to focus on getting creative. Here’s what’s new in Dotdigital, just in time for the holiday season.

You describe it, AI agents do it

After a successful Beta, Segment Agent and Content Agent are now available to all Dotdigital Marketing customers. Here’s a recap of what they can do:

Segment Agent

Describe your segment in plain language, and the agent builds it for you. Even if your request is vague, it suggests matching options based on your data. You can ask it to edit existing segments, summarize a segment (useful for ones your colleague built years ago), or list the segments you have.

Content Agent

Tell the agent what you want to say, who it’s for, and which channel it’s going out on, and it writes the copy right inside the editor. Content Agent is now also available in your SMS and MMS builder and accounts for message segments with guardrails so you never exceed your character count.

Set up your brand voice and upload your tone-of-voice guidelines to keep suggestions on-brand every time.

We’ve also got two new agents to introduce:

Analytics Agent

Ask Analytics Agent about your email campaign results, and it’ll summarize the campaign metrics, show you trends over time, spot unusual behavior like sudden drops in open rates, and create charts on request. Plus, the agent can explain what the numbers mean in simple language, so you don’t have to rely on guesswork or assumptions.

SmartBlock Agent

Dotdigital Personalization customers now have access to an agent to help build personalized experiences across email and web. Explain what you need, from banners to product recommendations and coupons, and the agent designs an on-brand version with no code or design skills needed. You can fine-tune colors, copy, and layout in the editor as usual, or let the agent edit an existing SmartBlock when a campaign needs a refresh.

Do more of your Dotdigital work without leaving your AI tool

Whether you prefer working directly in Dotdigital or using your AI tool of choice, the Dotdigital MCP server gives you the flexibility to do both. Connect tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini to Dotdigital, and use them to manage contacts, build segments, and create campaigns without switching between platforms.

MCP server updates

You can now add and manage contacts, create and edit segments, and work across SMS, MMS, and email, all from your business’s chosen AI tool.

Create on-brand campaigns from one conversation

Your AI tool can use your brand voice, brand assets, templates, and past Dotdigital campaigns to build a campaign that opens in our email builder, ready for you to edit and send. Connect Canva or Figma, and your designs become editable blocks rather than flat images.

Be ready for peak season

Peak season really puts your campaigns to the test. These updates give you a few more ways to make sure your messages stand out, reach customers at the right moment, and deliver the experience you’re aiming for.

WhatsApp coupon code button

A native coupon code button in WhatsApp lets recipients copy a code with one tap instead of copying the whole message or remembering it. You can type the code in manually or pull it from a data field.

WhatsApp video header

Start your WhatsApp message with a video by linking to a publicly hosted video to showcase a new product range or gain traction for an urgent donor appeal with a personal story.

Magento bulk coupons

Generate unique codes for one-off sends to large lists or audience segments, such as a Black Friday campaign. Codes now generate five times faster; you can preview any segment member’s code before you send, and they work in SMS and email.

Interactive scratch & reveal blocks

Grab attention on campaign landing pages with interactive elements using Dotdigital Personalization. Get customers to scratch to reveal what’s hidden underneath, such as a hidden coupon code or a product reveal.

Performance alerts

Dotdigital Personalization customers will now receive alerts when performance drops. By comparing your key metrics against a rolling baseline every day, you’ll get an email alert flagging significant drops in your personalization campaigns. You’ll see what changed and by how much, with insight into likely causes, such as a website change affecting data capture or an update to segmentation rules.

Give your loyalty program more ways to grow

With Dotdigital Loyalty, you can give customers more reasons to keep coming back, spending, and staying engaged. The more opportunities members have to earn rewards, the more incentive they have to spend and build a lasting relationship with your brand.

Custom earning rules

Reward customers for actions beyond standard earning rules, such as completing their profile or using your app. Create custom rules and trigger them using the ‘Earn Points’ action in Shopify Flow or through the Loyalty API.

Refer a friend

Give every loyalty program member a personal referral link to share with friends. Their friend gets a discount on their first order, and the member earns bonus points once that order is fulfilled. Referrals are built into Dotdigital Loyalty, so you can manage everything in one place, with a single set of rules and a unified view of each customer.

Judge.me review integration

Reward customers for sharing their experiences through reviews. Connect your Judge.me account, set how many points members earn per review, and they’ll start earning rewards when they review their purchases.

New custom rules for loyalty program members to earn points

Keeping contact records accurate and compliant takes ongoing attention. Details change, preferences evolve, and the rules for managing and using contact data need to keep up. When your tools make even simple changes difficult, staying on top of it all becomes more complicated than it should be.

You now have more flexibility over how you manage contact data, making it easier to keep your records up to date while respecting the choices of the people behind them.

Update contact details at any time

You can now change a contact’s email address or phone number, regardless of their subscription status. The contact’s latest status automatically carries over to the new number or address, so an unsubscribed contact stays unsubscribed.

Each contact now has an open tracking consent status:

  • Opted in
  • Opted out
  • Not set

This supports privacy rules in France and Italy, which require contacts to be able to opt out of open tracking separately from marketing emails. If a contact opts out, they’ll still receive your emails, but without the tracking pixel. You can update consent for a whole segment, add an opt-in or opt-out link to your emails, or manage consent through the Contacts API if you store it elsewhere.

A new “Apply to existing customers” setting lets you push consent updates to customers already in Shopify, without switching on full two-way sync via webhooks.

Bring your tech stack closer together

As tech stacks grow, getting the right data into the right systems can become complicated. Custom developments need building and maintenance, workarounds start to pile up, and accumulating records can drive up storage costs. The latest integrations and data management updates take some of that complexity off your plate.

Dotdigital integration updates

Dynamics storage saver

Control how much detailed engagement data, such as individual opens and clicks, syncs into Dynamics with the new Detailed Sync Limit setting. Choose a 30- to 90-day window to give sales reps the most recent activity they need while keeping storage use under control.

Microsoft Fabric

Bring contact data from Microsoft Fabric into Dotdigital without needing your data team to build a custom pipeline. You can map Fabric data to contact fields, sync contacts on a schedule you set, and resync manually whenever you need fresh data. This integration is coming soon. For more information, reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

Norce Commerce

Connect Norce Commerce with our new self-serve integration. It syncs contacts, products, and orders into Dotdigital every hour, with product data available in multiple currencies so you can use Liquid to show each contact prices in their local currency.

New verified integrations: Donorfy and Agenie

Donorfy, a CRM for charities, and Agenie, an ecommerce analytics platform, now have verified integrations with Dotdigital. Both integrations have passed our security and compliance checks, so you can connect with confidence.

That’s a wrap

That’s a lot of new ways to get more from Dotdigital. Whether you’re building campaigns with AI, making your loyalty program work harder, or getting your data where it needs to be, these updates make your day-to-day marketing a little easier.
